What the rules say now#

Cannabis in Thailand is regulated under Ministry of Public Health rules. It is not sold as an open retail product, and the rules have been revised several times since 2022. Treat anything you read before this year as out of date, and check the current notice before you buy.

In practice that means three things. You need a prescription from a licensed practitioner for the amount you buy. You buy from a licensed shop, in person. And you cannot place an order through an app, a website or a chat and have a cart checked out for you.

Get a prescription first#

A licensed practitioner can prescribe cannabis when they judge it suitable for your condition. That conversation is the first step, not a formality. Bring any records you already have and tell them which products you have used before.

A prescription covers a supply of up to 30 days. When you need more, you go back to the practitioner for a new one. Do not ask a shop to stretch a supply beyond what the prescription states.

Buy only from a licensed shop#

A licensed shop displays its licence where customers can see it, and it asks for your prescription before it sells you anything. If a seller does not ask, do not buy from them.

Keep your prescription and your receipt together. They are your proof of purchase if you are ever asked about it.

Why there is no online checkout#

Sellers who offer cannabis online, or on social media, with delivery and no prescription are outside the rules, whatever the packaging says. A legal supply in Bangkok means a prescription, a licensed counter and a receipt.

That is why the shop does not run online ordering or a cart. Message us on LINE or WhatsApp with your question, and we will walk you through the next step in person.

Before you go#

Check the current Ministry of Public Health notice on the day you visit. Bring your passport and your prescription. Ask the shop to explain the product in front of you, and start with the lowest dose on the label.
